Ravenna Park

It has been unseasonably warm and sunny in Seattle the last two weeks.  Don and I took advantage of this major rarity and spent an afternoon soaking up vitamin D while exploring Ravenna Park and playing with the new camera.
We ended the trip with a stop at Thrive, a new raw vegan restaurant in the Roosevelt neighborhood.  We split the Awaken Warm Grain Bowl and the Mocha Latte Heaven desert pie. Unfortunately I was so excited about the food and impressed with the presentation that I didn't think to snap a picture until I had finished eating (common problem for me).  Days later I am still thinking about how phenomenal our meal was.  Our desert was so rich and chocolaty with a cashew cream sauce that tasted almost like a caramel sauce.  I highly recommend this spot whether you are vegan or not.  YUM!

What A Pair

Author Thibault de Montaigu  and fashion editor/stylist Sofia Achaval have me dreaming of someday moving to Paris and living in a To-Die-For apartment.  She somehow manages to makes those shiny hot pink legging look like second nature.  Check them out at Selby.

SUNO New York

Designer Max Osterweis has spent the last decade collecting fabrics on his trips to Kenya in order to create this first collection from SUNO.  The design and pattern making for SUNO happens in New York and then each piece is brought to small fair trade workshops in Kenya and completed.  Max's vision for the company from the beginning has been to bring a positive change to Kenya both socially and economically and share their incredible artistry with the rest of the world.  This magnificent Spring/Summer 2009 collection can be found exclusively at New York and LA's Opening Ceremony stores.

This is what my apartment is beginning to look like (without the gorgeous color coordination). How many stacks of import fashion magazines and large coffee table books can still be considered decoration rather than clutter? Who can really say...

In(side) the Loop

This girl's got style.  You may have seen Courtney Barton in the EyeSpy section of Domino back in December.  Her blog In(side) the Loop is a great source of inspiration for all those creative souls out there.

I came across this tempting array of boots on Flickr.  I want about...99% of them.  Okay, maybe all of them.

Fremont Flea Market Finds

My Fremont underground flea market trip last Sunday was a huge success.  Not only did I find these splendid pieces but because I went at the end of the day as a result was able to negotiate some great prices.

On my way home I walked past Galactic Boutique on Pine Street and noticed 75% off signs all over the place.  After chatting with the store owner I found out that they are closing the retail shop to sell exclusively from their online store.  I hated hearing this, I love Galactic's retail space.  I was able to pick up these great earrings that I have had my eye on for months!

Donut Goodness

Wandered over to Mighty-O Donuts for some tasty vegan donut magic and left with these guys.   Chocolate Mint on the left and Chocolate Chocolate on the right.  We happened to stop in at a most opportune time as these were still warm.  Great success!

Hindi Mahdi Couture Wedding Gown

Palestinian designer Hindi Mahdi unveiled his Spring 2009 couture collection at the end of last month including this whimsical wedding gown at the Saint-Merri Church in Paris.  I am in awe at how fantastic this piece is.  The entire line was amazing!

Thinking of eloping.....

Well,  this might just give you that last little push to follow through so beware...  Photographer Ben Chrisman perfectly captured the Vegas elopement of Davina and Daniel (who also happen to be photographers).  His photos a absolutely fantastic!  The couple are planning on having another ceremony later but had always talked about the idea or a perfectly tacky vegas wedding.  Daniel proposed this elopement as a complete surprise to Davina.  He had all the arrangements already made and had contacted Ben Chrisman to meet them down there.

Simple but bold... I am pretty sure this would look ridiculous on me but I want to share because there are plenty of little ladies out there who could strut this top without a hitch.  A newer item that I came across on Pixiemarket.com.

......
This morning I was in the mood for some Sigur Ros,  I haven't really listened to their album Med sud I eyrum since it first came out last summer.  Sure do love the track "Inní mér syngur vitleysingur" (sure did have to copy and paste that album and track name).

Balloons

I keep hearing the proclamation that, for weddings and parties, "balloons are the new cupcake".  Well, I like them both.  When done right balloons can be a low-cost way to bring glamorous old Hollywood glamour to an event.  Attaching them to ribbons and sticking with a simple color palette keep them from making an event look like your 6th birthday party.  My favorite are the large matte colored balloons that I have seen popping up on wedding blogs and in the spreads fashion magazines I have received recently.
