John Richards | Jack Straw

Seattle Street Style Fashion Jack Straw

Seattle Street Style Fashion Jack Straw

Seattle Street Style Fashion Jack Straw

John is the owner of Seattle men and women's clothing store Jack Straw. They sell beautiful, timeless, well made clothing that is designed to be lived in and enjoyed.  Check out the store's website and blog or go see for yourself at 1117 1st Ave (between Seneca & Spring).

This was one of those exceptionally rare instances when I happen to photograph someone on my early morning walk to work.  John had just woken up when I stopped him to ask for a photo.  I imagine this was not what he expected when throwing on clothes that early to run to the store.  What a testament to a wardrobe consisting of great clothes: No matter what you are caught in it will be something you love wearing and look good in.

This is making me want to do a major closet detox...

Hill Style: Nicole Firestone

15th & Republican

Nicole Firestone is a wedding and lifestyle photographer here in Seattle.  She is the subject of my Hill Style post this week over at CHS.  More photos here.  I passed her on my lunch break while I was out for a walk.  Such a fun dress.

Sharon | Oddfellows

Seattle Street Style Fashion Sharon Oddfellows Cafe Door socks

Sharon has a wonderfully innate sense of style that has been really fun to watch over the years of doing this blog.  Here she is in 2010 and again in 2011.  She was so nice to let me snag her for a second to take a photo while she was working at Oddfellows the other day.

Eva

Window shopping outside Nordstrom

Eva is a personal stylist at BCBG on the east side and she also co-owns Cozy Bubble Tea in Redmond with some friends. Yum, I recently discovered that I love coconut bubble tea. And here I'd been walking by the bubble tea shops all these years with no idea what I was missing.

Susan

University District Saturday Farmers Market

Susan came over from Mercer Island to visit her daughter who works at the Holmquist Hazelnut booth in the farmers market when I found her at there.  She was wearing such a perfect Saturday outfit.  Casual enough to run errands in and dressy enough to wear out to dinner at the end of the day... The joy of a classic shirt dress.

Laura was taking on a break when I passed her in the window of Stumptown Coffee on Pine.  Aside from being a barista there she is also a wardrobe stylist.  I'd hire her!  I love this look, classic and natural with a twist.  Those silver shoes... so fun.

Ballard Ave

Marten & Jackie were on a little trip up to Seattle from Portland when I passed them having lunch on Ballard Avenue.  I told them how much I love Portland... they told me how much they love Seattle.  It's fun having these two great cities right next to each other.  Makes for a lot of fun weekend adventures for both parties.

Sangria Saturday

Homemade Sangria Local Cherries

The other weekend I wanted Sangria in a bad way and looking around my kitchen I was able to come up with what seemed like a good combination of ingredients to make it.  Rather than look up a recipe I just threw together a combination of things that sounded good at the time.

- 1 bottle red blend wine
- 1 tbsp agave nectar
- 1 tsp lemon juice
- one pink lady apple skinned and chopped into bite size cubes
- 1 peach " "
- 2 cups of Rainier cherries halved and pitted

I put the mixture in a carafe covered it and let it sit in the fridge for the remainder of the day.  That night I poured myself a glass and it was really good!  I enjoyed it over the rest of the weekend and it was even better the next afternoon.  Eating the fruit was the best part.

Before doing this post I did a little hunting around online for sangria recipes to compare and found that they vary pretty greatly but what I concocted last weekend isn't very close to anything I found.  Most of the recipes had brandy, sugar and ginger ale or club soda added.  I'll have to play around with my recipe but I think I liked it with just the agave and fruit sweetness. I will definitely try throwing the soda into my glass after pouring my drink next time though.

In fact, I am going to go make this right now so that it is ready to drink tomorrow evening...

Have a great weekend!

I got this photo just moments before the bus came and swept these two away.  Lots of missed opportunities for me at bus stops where the bus comes before I can get a photo.  Glad it worked out this time.

Clementine- West Seattle Street Fest

Lisa Bradbury & Clementine owner Linda Walsh

It's West Seattle Street Fest weekend.  Every year I head over and check out the booths and the music but my main focus is always heading straight to the north end of the festival to Clementine's summer shoe sale before anything else.  I've gotten some of my very favorite shoes at Clementine.  They carry fun, unique high quality brands and the women that work there love shoes as much as I do.

There is one day left to get over to the street fest but lucky for you Clementine isn't going anywhere... Just the sale shoes, those are flying off the shelves pretty quickly.

Cacilda Jetha and Sex At Dawn

Got your attention didn't I?  Cacilda Jetha co authored the book Sex At Dawn with her husband Christopher Ryan.  They were in town for a reading when I passed them at Broadway and Pine the other day.

Her scarf is made out of vintage saris.  Beautiful.

Mackenzie and Ria of Kaleidoscope Vision

Ah, finally!  I got my butt over to Kaleidoscope Vision.  Shouldn't have let this much time slip since they opened their doors in February.  What a wonderful place!

Two of the shops three owners; Mackenzie and Ria.  Sophia was out today.  Gorgeous girls!  Ria designed both her dress and bracelet.  They sell the bracelets in the shop.

The inside of KV is artfully arranged with the perfect amount of clothing, accessories and handmades.  Not too overwhelming but plenty of selection.  Everything is intricately arranged in a bright wide open store space next to Neumos on 10th.  It's not often you find a used clothing store done in a minimalist style.  Not an easy task.

Each month the store encompasses a theme/mood. This month's collection, titled "Gianni, We Love You", is featured front and center.  A U-shaped rack filled with bold colorful resorty prints similar to things I have swooned over during the last few seasons on the runway as well as while perusing Susie Bubble's blog

Go! Go! So many fun things.

This see through number came home with me.  I have a feeling it is going to get worn a lot for a while...

I've got a new shop in my repertoire.
