Craig & Jean of AT Collins

I saw Craig and Jean leaving the Packard Building as I passed it on an early lunch a while back. The husband and wife business partners are the owners of AT Collins; a men's clothing company that they founded together in NYC and have recently transplanted to the Packard Building on Capitol Hill here in Seattle. What a great location! I hope they are enjoying being in Seattle with their company. I wish them the best of luck in resisting the tantalizing smell of Eltana bagels being baked each morning... I would be there ALL the time.

Seattle Wrote... About Me!

Norelle Done of Seattle Wrote interviewed me last week and the post just went up on Friday. Check it out here. Norelle has such a great thing going with this site. She is getting out there and interviewing local writers of all kinds. As a blogger I really like the questions that she asks in her Q&A's. They are exactly the things that I wonder when I read someone else's writing. How did they get started? What obstacles have they run into? What are their goals for their writing? I see Seattle Wrote being a great community for the writers of this city. Thanks Norelle!

Rachel

Rachel- 4th & Pine downtown Seattle

Some people are blessed with the ability to wrap a scarf well. My scarf always looks just how I want it to when I leave the house but in no time I am chasing a loose end behind my head or destroying my perfectly constructed creation by loosening it because I feel like I am getting strangled. To all of you expert scarf wrappers... I commend you! Go forth knowing that you have a great skill and that there are many of us who settle for the simple both-ends-through-the-loop-trick after giving up on any sort of original scarf assembly.

I also have to add how much I am enjoying all of unique socks everyone is allowing to peek through from under their cuffed/slightly short pants...

Jim

Jim- Ballard Sunday Farmers Market
I'm not sure who made Jim's jacket but it reminds me of a green houndstooth Woolrich button up of my dad's that I always wear when I stay at my parent's house in chilly Idaho. It's been in the front closet of my childhood home for as long as I can remember and every few years I realize I still like it just as much as I did years before. The only thing that changes is how it has fit me over the years as I have grown and the way that I wear it as my style changes. I can't help but hope that someday my closet contains mostly items that fill a similar role in my wardrobe and remain staples no matter what happens with my taste and the trends around me.

In Memory of My Brother

I haven't spoken about it before on this site but a year ago today I lost my brother and my best buddy Wray. I've been thinking of him all day; going over and over my favorite happy memories of our growing up together and becoming closer and closer friends as we got older. From adventures in the woods behind our house in Connecticut all the way up to him standing next to me as my "Man" of honor at my wedding two years ago. One memory that popped up for me this morning was of an email he sent me a couple weeks before he died. In that email he sent me a link to his friend's website Teton AT that had featured a photo of him skiing a couloir on Mount Prospectors (above). Along with the link he joked that maybe he could be featured on my blog for his "street style" someday. I laughed it off and, as always, got a kick out of the fact that an avid outdoorsman like him would even have any interest in the fact that his little sister had a fashion blog. He was always so supportive of me no matter what I did. So, I figure what better day to feature Wray Wray's "street style" than on today's post.

Love you Wray.

Wray and I hiking before we could hike...

If you are interested in learning more about the incredible life that my brother lived as well as the work that he did as a conservationist click here for his obituary, Teton Land Trust Tribute, and a news article in the Jackson Hole News.

Thanks for listening readers.

Christina

I came across Christina and her totally unique outfit while walking past Westlake Center yesterday after work. I wanted to be sure to get her photo up this morning because she mentioned in passing that today is her Birthday! Happy Birthday Christina!

Hill Style- Riley

My Hill Style post over at CHS this week features Riley wearing a great dress that was gifted to her by her sister who bought it from Anthropologie in the 7th grade... almost vintage Anthro, or about as vintage as Anthro can be.

It's My Darlin' In Lucky Magazine!

Well I must say, I was shocked and totally elated yesterday afternoon when I picked up the March issue of Lucky Magazine and found that the photos they had asked my permission to use had most definitely made their way into print. I try not to get my hopes up about these sorts of things because you never know when plans will change. But, Hooray! There they are on page 130! Lucky was kind enough to send me a full image of the page this morning so that all of you wonderful readers can see it. Say hello again to Sharon, Caryl, Paulina, and Kim. I'm so happy with the four lovely Seattle ladies that Lucky chose for the feature.
In addition to this being a super exciting issue for me I was also thrilled to find some of my favorite local shops featured in the City Guide to Seattle that is featured in this issue. Editor at Large Elise Loehnen explored the city to find the best of the best shopping to be had here and I must say that she came up with a pretty incredible collection of spots for her list. This is a good month to grab yourself a Lucky Magazine if you are a Seattleite...

Thanks for loving Seattle as much as we do Lucky! You guys are awesome.

Andrew

After picking up a pair of eye glass frames at Blackbird on my most recent trip to Ballard I made a point to exit through their beautiful apothecary shop to browse (Have you been to this wonderful little nook yet?? You definitely should!). I'm so glad I did so that I could see Andrew again. I took his photo on Capitol Hill last year... Now he works for Blackbird.

Comparing last year's photo with this one provides the perfect example of the versitality that lies in a classic piece of clothing. His chambray button up works equally well as polished work attire as it did worn casually with the sleeves rolled up last spring.

Diane

Diane- Harvard & Pine on Capitol Hill
Ah, the joys of raiding your boyfriend's closet... If The Don weren't 6'5" and twice my size I would be in a constant state of stealing his button ups, coats, and jeans. Aside from a couple oxford shirts he bought too small I'm out of luck. While I'm sure he is happy to get to keep his clothes to himself (and not have me spilling on them as I do everything in my wardrobe) I am left longing for the luxury of shopping his end of the walk-in. Diane, on the other hand, looks to have a boyfriend of perfect proportions for her to incorporate his clothes into her outfits. She snagged this perfect vintage Levi's jacket from him on the day I took her photo... so envious. Maybe I should start buying things just a bit too small for Don on "accident"?
