Abby B. Wilde | Port Townsend, WA

I totally adore Port Townsend. What a beautiful, serene and friendly place. Don and I are finding ourselves there more and more on the weekend. I found Abby on Tyler St. Her playful style caught my eye from down the street. She is an artist in Port Townsend and, just like everyone I've talked to in the town, she loves living there.

LOVE

Today is my parent's 44th anniversary. This is them setting off on their honeymoon, super stylin' travel bags and all.

These two have set an incredible example for me of how wonderful life can be when you marry your best friend. Watching them as I grew up I was always so excited to meet my other half because their life together looked so effortless and full of fun. They are always on each other's team and enjoy every moment they get to spend together.

Happy Anniversary Mom and Dad! Thank you for showing me how to love.

Lefts and Rights

Don and I do road trips in a way that would probably drive most crazy. We pick a very open ended destination and we make our way there eventually but along the way if we see a sign, a road or a town that grabs our attention we turn. Sometimes we never even get to where we originally planned to go but we always find something wonderful. On our most recent drive to Portland we exited at Chahelis for gas and both decided that we were curious what we would find if we headed west on Highway 6. This highway winds through green farmland and hugs the edge of a beautiful lush river. We passed a cheese maker, the adorable town of PE Ell and finally this unbelievable swimming hole.

We call this way of getting places The Lefts and Rights Route. It's never regretted and many great hole in the way restaurants and diners have been discovered along the way during these adventures. We live in a pretty magical place. I know its not possible to see it all but I like trying.

Kayla Bohme | Pipe and Row

Kayla recently opened Fremont boutique Pipe and Row just down the street from Lambs Ear and Essenza and around the corner from Les Amis... This block is a getting to be the perfect shopping destination. Make it a Sunday with my favorite underground flea market in full swing and I'm set!  Pipe and Row is so beautifully arranged and completely calming to shop. The shelves and wracks are artfully arranged with a precise selection of Kayla's favorite finds for the season. Think minimalistic but with a modern quirkiness. And with much of the store under $100 it is also remise of the usual guilt that comes with a boutique shopping spree.

Uber and Banana Republic promo

I don't generally do any promoting of services or products on here but when Jen over at Uber Seattle emailed me this morning to tell me about a promo that they are doing with Banana Republic I just had to share because it is such a fun idea. I am a huge fan of Uber. Don and I use their car services all the time. Lately I take an Uber twice a day to get to and from work due to a broken foot... another story entirely. Bottom line though is that I'll give Uber a shout out any day because my life has been greatly improved since they came on the scene. So... here's the scoop on this promo thanks to Jen over at Uber Seattle:

TOMORROW FROM 1-4 PM, REQUEST THE 'EMBARK' OPTION ON YOUR UBER APP FOR THE CHANCE TO WIN A $2,000 SHOPPING SPREE!

Uber has partnered with Banana Republic to celebrate the launch of their a new BR program called Embark. To kick it off, Banana Republic is going to reward 20 lucky Seattle Uber users with a $2,000 shopping spree!

HERE'S HOW IT WORKS:

On July 12th, between 1– 4pm, open your Uber app or head to m.uber.com and request the “EMBARK!” option
If you are one of the first 5 people to request at the top of each hour, you will be picked up in style and brought to the Banana Republic Coliseum store in Downtown Seattle for a $2,000 shopping spree!

Make sure to have the app open and be ready to request as there are only 5 lucky winners per hour and you will definitely have some competition to score this ultimate retail therapy!

Click here for more info on this promo or links to download the Uber app on your iPhone or Anroid device.

Good luck!

Family Photos

I've been blowing up old black and white photos of my relatives to hang on the walls of my apartment and I've been coming across some serious gems in the process.  I love this photo of my uncle Bob that my dad took in his twenties. My dad used to have a small dark room where he would develop his own photos. He got some really great shots of his siblings and my mom.

Finnriver Farmstay

Last weekend we went and stayed with our friends John and Kathleen at Finnriver Farm and Cidery just south of Port Townsend on the Olympic Peninsula. It was such a perfect weekend escape from the city. In the mornings and evenings we walked around the farm, visited the animals and drank cider then during the day Finnriver was the perfect jumping off point to head out to the beaches and rainforest trails on the west side of the peninsula.  It felt like we were all the way across the world in Scandinavia while wandering the rolling grassy hills with the chill in the air and the cozy blanket of clouds. Kathleen and I even made a Danish Koldskål a la My New Roots
