When I saw Nicole and Austin they were on their way to the post office to ship several shoes that had recently been purchased from their online clothing shop 33 Vintage. I'm currently swooning over this dress and this skirt I just found on there...
These two can both also be found working at Indian Summer. Austin works in the shop and Nicole models their clothing.

Now in The Seattle Times!
I can finally share my news with you. I've learned over the last few years not to get excited about things related to the blog until I see them in front of me because... well, they rarely end up actually become anything. Idea's get replaced by newer better ideas, plans fall through and things get put off. Because of this I no longer get my hopes up when someone proposes an offer or collaboration until it has actually happened. So that being said, I am officially excited to say that It's My Darlin' is now a regular part of the printed Sunday edition of The Seattle Times because I am looking at it right now on table next to me! I was so honored a few weeks ago when The Times contacted me hoping to find a way that we could collaborate on a feature for the print edition and since then we have worked together on the final product that you see above. Really hoping it is well received by those who read the paper. If you like it, let them know. As long as the feature is a success then it will stick around for a while.
I'm so happy that Ferdous is the inaugural photo for this feature. Both this photo and the ones that I took of him a couple years ago are a couple of my very favorite shots. He has such a great love of style and it shows. If you go to the next Hangover Market Flea Market at the Comet Tavern on the 29th and see Ferdous at his booth there tell him that you saw his photo in The Seattle Times.
I'll do a post each week on the It's My Darlin' Facebook page to let everyone know which photo was featured in the paper.

Indian Summer Window
I always make it a point to walk past Indian Summer every so often just to see what is going on in the windows. They are always done up to the nines and such great inspiration. After the window display that was up around the holidays this one is my favorite so far. It feels like a scene in a movie. That Adria... Such a talent.
Can't wait to get over there for some browsing once the shoulder is feeling better.

Andrew recently relocated back to Seattle from New York City. I caught him finishing up with work for the day and grabbing coffee before meeting up with friends. I had to chase him down for about a block in order to stop him for a photo. When I told him why I was hurrying to catch him he said that he had actually been stopped before by a street style photographer with GQ about a year ago. Ha! Poor guy can't escape the fashion photos even when he moves across the country.

Going In For Some Repairs

Today I am finally getting some long overdue shoulder surgery (as I type that I'm realizing it makes me sound old... like I'm dealing with an old football injury or something). No fear though, I've been spending more time than normal out around Seattle getting photos these last few weeks so I have lots of shots to share with you while I am on the mend. However, this does mean I will be less than stellar at responding to your emails and such while I am living the life of a temporarily one armed woman. Also, being laid up means my dude has to stay home and take care of me so expect some great Chef Don posts in the near future.
Exciting stuff coming up though for the blog though. Stay tuned... I'll fill you all in once things come to fruition.
PS. I've had this photo on my desktop for some time. Glad I finally came across an opportunity to use it.

I caught Jeremy on his first day with these glasses. I love this shape. Jeremy's glasses remind me of this photo that I took last year. A new pair of glasses can change an entire look. Sometimes, when I get a new pair I find that it prompts a bit of a change in the style of clothing I want to wear. Funny how such a small thing can make such a big impact.

Urban Fieldnotes & Brent Luvaas

Have you ever wondered what it is like to start a Street Style blog? I know that when I started this blog years ago I didn't have a clue what I was doing and it was just a whole lot of trial and error. Well, Philadelphia based anthropologist and author Brent Luvaas was fascinated with the culture of street style photography and blogging about it so he decided to try it for himself in the way he knew best; a research project. Brent started Urban Fieldnotes a few weeks ago as a place to track his experience creating and running a street style fashion blog. Unlike other street style sites, mixed within the photos you will find Brent's analysis and observations on everything that comes with asking complete strangers on the street to take their photo as well as the work that goes into putting the site itself together. As he states in his first post, most anthropologists keep their findings a secret until everything is completed and put together for publishing. Brent is trying it a different way. He is an open book about his experiences and part of the research project is going to involve the input that he receives on his blog from the readers, the subjects of his photos and other street style photographers. The conversation that Urban Fieldnotes starts will all be part of the study. It is such a fascinating idea. I am really enjoying myself as I watch the site come together and read Brent's perspective on becoming a street style blogger.
