SuperFantastic Chloe Sevigny

Super.fantastic.picture.time had a recent post with behind the scenes pictures from Chloe's recent Elle photo shoot.  I enjoyed these pictures just as much as I enjoyed the incredible spread in this month's Elle.  She is always so stunning.  I want to jump into the accessories pictures and play dress up!  The clothes in the shoot ranged from $30 to $3,000 and Chloe states in the article that "It's not what you spend but how you wear it that counts".  What a great outlook on fashion.

This is my favorite photo from the Elle spread (the silk jumpsuit is Armani Exchange and only $150!):

Abaete A Gorgeous Suit

I would love any suit from Abaete's recent swim line but this one is certainly my favorite!

Indian Sweets

I picked up these Indian desserts from Travelers today on my way home from work.  Coconut and Cashew Barfi.  Both were so amazing.  They have several flavors... this is the first time I have tried anything aside from the Besan (garbanzo bean).  Looks like I will have to try the rest of them now that branching out was so successful.

Hanisa and Patrick

Hanisa and Patrick- Taken downtown in front of Pacific Place on Pine. They both were just getting off their shift at United Colors of Benetton. I love Hanisa's pants...

Senior Moose Cafe

We had brunch at Senior Moose Cafe in Ballard before heading to the Sunday Farmer's Market. The one complaint I always hear from people about this restaurant is that they always have a long wait but we were seated right away so perhaps late morning is a good time to stop in...

The interior feels like being in someone's house, very welcoming.  We got distracted from choosing what to order when we noticed a shelf lining all of the walls that was filled with kitchy moose figurines and other oddball items.  We finally settled on the Papas Con Rajas: Roasted poblanos chiles, corn, onions, potatoes cooked in a cream sauce and served with black beans and tortillas.  This dish is fantastic!  I'm glad that we split it though because it was definitely very rich comfort food.

I want to get back soon to try the Calabacitas Guisatas.

Hail Seizures

We caught a great sidewalk performance from Hail Seizures at the Folklife Festival on Sunday. We heard this Olympia, WA band last year at Folklife and picked up their CD.  It has since become one of our favorite punk albums.  Check out their myspace page if you are into punk, folk, rockin string music, or if you are just looking for something unlike anything you have heard.

New Green Shoes

I snagged these brilliant green heels for $3 at an estate sale that I walked by in Fremont on Sunday.  Wearing a size 9 isn't generally very conducive to vintage shoe shopping.  I love when I find a pair of vintage shoes that not only fit me but are in great condition and comfortable too!

Easy Vegan Italian Meal

When we got back from San Francisco last Sunday we were so ready for a home cooked meal.  We threw together some market veggies that we had in the fridge (Yellow, Red, and Orange bell peppers, onion, mushroom, and tomatoes) and made a mock meat sauce with a can of stewed tomatoes, soy beef crumbles, vegetable broth, olive oil, and fresh garlic.  Once the veggies and sauce were all finished simmering together we poured the mixture over wheat pasta and sprinkled fresh basil from the new window plant on top.  Don cooked up some simple garlic bread with the remainder of a loaf of Le Panier bread I had picked up before the trip.  The meal took almost no time to prepare and it really hit the spot for fresh Italian after out weekend of eating out for every meal.

Audley "Isis"

I came across this pair of Audley's on their website.  They have such a structured but playful style to them.

University District Farmer's Market

Well, The farmer's markets are back in full swing now that May is upon us.  I love this time of year!  The University District's market is year round but the vendors are a bit sparse during winter.  It's great seeing everyone's tents back up again now that it is warming up.  First stop was Belle Epicurean for some sweets.  I picked the chocolate liqueur mousse and  Don went with the Apple Brioche.  Their traditional French desserts are all so decadent.  I don't recall ever eating a treat from here that I didn't like.

Seattle area organic farms were out selling starts.  This might just be the year that I break down and build a window box.  I am dying to have all of my favorite fresh herbs at home.  It's just not as fun walking by these beautiful stands when I don't have a garden to spoil.

Tulips, tulips, and more tulips.  All of the flowers stands were filled with them.  All for less the $10 a bunch.

Fiddleheads from Foraged and Found Edibles!  This stand of mushrooms, berries and greens is full of great seasonal produce and beautiful presentation every time I see it.

PCC Cupcakes

How have I  never noticed the vegan cupcakes in PCC's dessert cold case?  Wow!  This carrot cake was exquisite to say the least.  As if I didn't have enough love for you already PCC...

Wild Park

While walking around Phinney Ridge over the weekend I came across this handsome boy as I passed the Woodland Park Zoo.  Stunning!

There is an amazing sale going on at Frankie Shoes in Fremont (now part of Burnt Sugar).  I  got this excellent pair of Audley's for 75% off!  Styles and sizes are getting down to a small amount so get in there soon...

Take Out Dinner

We got a few things to go from the PCC deli and Flying Apron Bakery.  It ended up being a phenomenal last minute dinner.

Vegetarian Pot Pie, Pesto Pasta Salad, and Roasted Beet Salad with greens, pecans and cranberries.

Healthy local vegetarian food for half the price of going out for a sit down down dinner.  If PCC and Flying Apron were closer I may never cook.  Luckily I only get over to Fremont about once every two weeks.

Fremont Sunday Market Treasures

I brought home so many wonderful things today.  Fremont's sunday Market doesn't ever disappoint.

I am always completely overwhelmed by all of the whimsical creations by Krissy Maier of Orange Box Jewelery.  I narrowed it down to these two earrings.

A funky sequined sweater shirt from the underground market.

A statement necklace from a great vintage stand at the end of the long line of vendors.

And I had to stop in at Show Pony before heading home...  I found myself a colorful new pair of Tom's in the upper loft.  Show pony is one of those stores that never lets me leave empty handed.

Wayward Cafe

We had lunch yesterday at the Wayward Vegan Cafe in the University District.  It was our first time eating there as I had read terrible reviews about them when we first moved here a few years ago.  At the end of last year I read that the cafe was now under great new management so I have since been meaning to head over.  Our experience at Wayward was fantastic from the moment we walked in the door.

After putting in our order we grabbed some games off the shelf and took our seat.

In what seemed like only moments later they were dropping off our food and we were putting away the toys.  The portions were enormous.  Even though it was lunchtime Don was dying to try the much hyped (on yelp) biscuits and gravy.  They use big fluffy homemade biscuits with a savory mushroom gravy.   This dish was definitely our favorite of the three that we ordered.

Along with the biscuits we ordered a half stack of chocolate chip and coconut pancakes.  They were so rich and could have passed for a pastry.  Yummm

I chose the Smokey Provoloney sandwich.  It was spicy baked tofu pieces with vegan provolone, aioli, lettuce and tomatoes on a huge whole grain deli roll and came with a side of home fries.

Such a great lunch!
