The unique shoe accent, bright jean cuffs, and Revlon Red nail ... At first glance this outfit is simple and classy but when I saw this outfit at Pike Place Market I noticed all the great details upon a second look.
Today's post is brought to you from a comfy poolside lounge chair in Arizona. Being that I'm from Seattle I'm doing it all wrong... I've found the only shady spot out here and I am have diligently applied SPF 70 twice. Oh sun, we've grown so far apart over the last few years. Either way, it's beautiful out and it feels great to be warm in only a bathing suit.
These four may have been the happiest and sweetest people I have ever photographed. They were in town last weekend for a conference and came into Seattle a little early to fit in some shopping. Between the sun, the shopping bags, and the huge smiles on their faces it seemed like they were having the perfect day.
This weeks Hill Style feature was an easy pick. Rommel lives on Capitol Hill and works for Georgio Armani with Nieman Marcus. Check out his style over at CHS.
I've been eating out a lot in the last couple weeks. I wanted to share my favorite of these meals. We finally made it to Plum's brunch and, let me tell you, the entire experience from the food to the service was fantastic.
We ordered the Panamanian style polenta and chile gravy with jalapeno scramble and avocados served with a pile of warm tortillas. I'm not usually super excited by tofu scrambles but this one was flavored beautifully with a light fluffy texture and with just the right amount of spiciness.
We also decided on the chile crusted seitan with sauteed jalapenos and fresh salsa on coconut, green mango and cucumber salad with chile and lime. This dish was such a lively mix of textures and a perfect mix of sweet and savory.
You just can't go wrong with Plum and the Hillside Quickie family of vegan restaurants. I tried the brunch at Sage on their opening day and it was delicious (unfortunately it was an unexpected stop and I didn't have the camera in tow).
Local creatives Kelsey and Dave in front of Westlake Center.
These two both have great websites to check out. Kelsey's blog is filled with all the things that inspire her art and everyday life from photographs that she takes to impassioned quotes by figures from all walks of life. Dave is an interior design student at the Art Institute. His blog is a window into the projects and findings taking him through this process. As a past art student I wish I would have had an outlet to document my assignments and the progress that I made between entering school and the time of my graduation. I'm looking forward to checking in on these sites and watching what inspires these two students.
Oh, and the lava lamp... They found it at a random yard sale downtown earlier in the day.
Dio & Seth- Enjoying lunch on a sunny Saturday in the park behind Pike Place Market
I love when I run into someone that I have photographed before. It is fun seeing what other unique looks they have in their closet. I took a photo of Dio for my first Hill Style post with CHS. Dio had a new hairstyle this time thanks to Seth Javier (right) a stylist at Mode Organic on 4th & Pike. From the look of both their hair styles Seth seems to be the guy to hit up for a great new cut. Check out his myspace page.
