Volunteer Park Cafe

Have you been?

Since Don was only home for one day we day we thought it appropriate to spend it letting other people do the cooking.

Chicken Pot Pie
We love the Volunteer Park Cafe. Their pot pie is the ultimate comfort food. They use fresh locally sourced ingredients (some straight from the backyard!) to create beautiful, sustainable dishes. My other go to item at VPC is the ginger chocolate cookie. They have lots of tempting baked goods at the counter but I can't ever seem to stray from my favorite. .

Over 100 years ago the building that houses the cafe was a grocery and meat market. The cafe has maintained the quaint old world feel of the store that once resided in its place and the result is a welcoming cozy neighborhood hangout.

I always joke with Claire that she has different hair every time I run into her. Being that I am incredibly unadventurous with my hair I am always totally envious of those that make major changes to their cut and color without a second thought. It is an accessory that I often overlook. This style has me reminiscing my days with platinum locks...

Wray Wray

Spending today remembering my brother. Two years later and it continues to blow my mind every day that someone could have been so incredible. What a lucky girl I am to have had those 27 years with him.

Jenny, Jonathan & {Far4}

16th & Denny

Jenny is the owner of {Far4}, a treasure of a boutique located in downtown Seattle. This is where you can all buy me my wedding gifts when I go back in time and get married again for the sole purpose of obtaining a house full of items from this shop.

Lindsay

I really like when I come across people wearing a piece that I have already photographed someone wearing. It is always fun seeing an item in a different light when it is worn by two people with different style.

I took this photo of Lydia last year. A really similar color palette but each girl's personal style shows in how they put their outfit together.

Wendy

9th & Pine downtown Seattle
I was so taken with Wendy's style when I came across her while walking home from downtown. This is one for the inspiration board on the wall at my desk. So many aspects that I am try to incorporate into my own wardrobe... classic yet eclectic, menswear inspired yet feminine and a beautiful but walking friendly pair of shoes. Ah, perfection.

Have a great weekend everyone.

I caught these two chatting outside of Arabica Lounge while Holly was on her break. I also found out that they will soon be serving a vegetarian dinner menu in the evenings! I'll be keeping an eye out for that.

I took a photo of Amanda a little over a year ago while she was working at the Capitol Hill Farmers Market. I always joke with her that every time we cross paths I don't recognize her because she is so brave with making drastic, and beautiful, changes to her hair. I've loved them all but I have to say that this style is really fun! Amanda runs a unique site called An Illustrated Guide To Style. It is a street style site but instead of capture images through photos, she creates illustrations that portray the styles that she sees worn around Seattle.
...Pretty gorgeous YSL bag too, eh?

Island Soul

While walking around in Columbia City last week we came across Island Soul Caribbean Restaurant and after just a glance at the menu it was obvious we had found where we were going to eat. They cook their food from scratch daily using as many local ingredients as seasonally possible and it shows in the freshness and unique flavors of their entrees.
Little Islands
Little Islands- The corn fritters under all this fresh goodness were so perfectly fried and weren't heavy.
Tamal Azteca
Tamal Azteca- This was like a cuban version of lasagna. It was stuffed with all sorts of veggies and had layers of corn tortilla instead of pasta. It was immense too, I only ate half and it was just as good heated up the next day for lunch. Back there behind the Tamal is what I haven't been able to get out of my head since this meal... The coconut corn muffins. If you go to Island Soul make sure you get an order for everyone at the table. They will be gone in a second. So good!!
