Laura Jorgensen at Folklife

I think my favorite part of this year's Folklife Festival was discovering Laura Jorgenson. She was a breath of fresh air to come across amongst all the chaos of the festival. I stood and watched with amazement as she sang soulfully and gracefully alongside her accordian. If you love Beirut, Antony & the Johnsons, Regina Spector, Andrew Bird, or Coco Rosie you will fall head over heels for Laura. I can't wait for her album to come out on the 15th! Check out her You Tube page too... I'm completely blown away by her impromptu cover of Regina Spektor's "Samson".

Yes! You guys would not be disappointed if you made it up for Folklife one year. The people watching is pretty phenomenal and there is so much new young music talent to be found as well as incredibly unique personal style to be seen on all the kiddos attending the festival.

Wow, that whole thing made me sound WAY older than 27...
