Shoemaker Mäensivu Bottier | Shoebakery, Helsinki

One of the neatest places that I happened upon in Helsinki was Shoebakery on Eerikinkatu. This small space is a workshop and showroom for five shoemakers including Mäensivu Bottier. Mäensivu and the other designers make shoes by hand in the shop and you can watch them do it, which is exactly what I got to do while I looked through all the beautiful shoes for sale and on display. What a unique experience!  The shop is currently by appointment only but Mäensivu had the door open when I was passing by. The front wall is a large window so you can watch the shoemakers at work from the street.

I wanted so many of the shoes but I ended up bringing home a beautiful leather bracelet made by Anna Artemova.

You can find out more about Shoebakery on their facebook page and Mäensivu Bottier's work can be seen at his blog and on his facebook page.
