Alicia & Cory

I ran into Alicia and Cory while they were wandering around in Capitol Hill a little while back. Both live in Ballard. I got a chance to meet these two at the Madewell Event (see below). I found out about Alicia's jewelry line Society Of These. She does beautiful work and her blog is really great too. Lots of adventures and day to lovelies captured well through her unique photography.

I actually photographed Cory a couple years ago at a KEXP mural concert wearing such a fun Lebowski sweater. Here is a link to that post.

Annual Ski Trip

Because the food and adventures are always so epic when I go visit my parents in Idaho I would be remiss if I did not post a few photos.

Mom made a Mushroom "Meatloaf" from Eating Well magazine that was a major process to create but well worth it. It was so delicious!
Many freshly baked cheese popovers were consumed throughout the long weekend.

We spent a day in Grand Teton National Park skinning through the woods in a beautiful snow storm then making our way to the park visitor center (re built in 2007) which was absolutely amazing architecturally and filled with so many great exhibits and photos. Check out the website.
My favorite after ski ritual. Hot honey tea back at the car! Everything tastes better in the woods.

After our trek in Teton Park we went into Jackson Hole for lunch at Lotus Cafe. This restaurant is incredible! Their veggie burger was topped with grilled onions and house made kimchi. It was so hard to pick something from this menu.

The snow storm really rolled in on Sunday night. It continued into Monday so we headed up the hill from the house to ski at Targhee. I'm not sure how I always luck out but somehow I manage to get knee deep powder every year when I come home to visit in the winter. It was such a perfect day.

Mediterranean food for dinner!
My mom makes killer falafel which she used to create a salad topped with fresh and tangy lemon yogurt dressing.

The BEST spanakopita I have ever had. My mom manages to take dishes that are normally heavy in restaurants and puts a fresh healthy spin on them. This version was so light.

Things that I love to snag while I am home... This green Woolrich coat from the 70's that magically fits my mom, dad and me. This perfect wool hat that my mom got in Ireland back when she was a travel agent before my brother and I came along. Both were so well made that they are still in nearly perfect condition.

And how about these guys? L.L.Bean hunting boots from the 70's!! My parents still wear them to this day. So if any of you have been on the fence about buying a pair because they are a bit spendy here is a little reassurance that they are just about the most well made and durable thing you can get for your feet.
Another memorable trip home.

Hill Style- Aidan

Olive & Belmont

According to Aidan, I caught him on a night when he was much dresser than normal. He was on his way to the opening party for APRIL (Authors, Publishers and Readers if Independent Literature). Sounds like a really neat series of events over the next week.

Aidan is an illustrator. His drawings are so unique! Check out his website.

I Heart Hats

HatSeattle Street Style
I crossed paths with this lovely girl and her very stylish husband a while back on Ballard Ave. Somehow I let these photos slip through the cracks the week I posted his photo.

I have this great affinity for hats. I always want to take people's photos when they are wearing them. I also own a ridiculous number of hats in a different styles, all of which just sit in my closet. Sometimes I will get one out to wear but I always decide to take it off just before I head out the door and I instead just leave it on my dresser for a couple weeks to admire it. What a strange relationship I have with this great accessory.

I passed Bill and Daniel as they were leaving the Whole Foods in Roosevelt. They both had such great glasses on and once we started chatting I noticed all the other details... their boots, the suspenders and Daniel's stark yet beautiful facial jewelry. And of course, the great beards.

Check out Bills photography, he is incredibly talented.

Quinault Rainforest

Don and I discovered last weekend that within only a 3 hour drive from our apartment on Capitol Hill we could be playing in the rainforest.
We stayed at the historic lodge on Quinault Lake and explored the rainforest for two days.
Highly recommend this road trip. Bring a raincoat and some muckers...

It must be blog reunion month or something. I keep running into people that I photographed back in the earlier days of the It's My Darlin'. Now Knomia is a mom! I loved her style back in 2010 and it is just as unique and beautiful now.
