Island Soul

While walking around in Columbia City last week we came across Island Soul Caribbean Restaurant and after just a glance at the menu it was obvious we had found where we were going to eat. They cook their food from scratch daily using as many local ingredients as seasonally possible and it shows in the freshness and unique flavors of their entrees.
Little Islands
Little Islands- The corn fritters under all this fresh goodness were so perfectly fried and weren't heavy.
Tamal Azteca
Tamal Azteca- This was like a cuban version of lasagna. It was stuffed with all sorts of veggies and had layers of corn tortilla instead of pasta. It was immense too, I only ate half and it was just as good heated up the next day for lunch. Back there behind the Tamal is what I haven't been able to get out of my head since this meal... The coconut corn muffins. If you go to Island Soul make sure you get an order for everyone at the table. They will be gone in a second. So good!!
