I'm so excited about this contest that The Seattle Times and I are teaming up on. I had so much fun seeing your entries for the Thrift Shop Showdown and I am sure that your submissions are going to be just as incredible for this contest.
Perhaps you have a blazer that had boring buttons so you went out in search of the perfect replacement and found a set of hand carved wooden buttons at Fremont's Sunday flea market to sew on. Or maybe you bought the perfect field jacket at your favorite local boutique but you wanted to add a little of your own personality to it so you collected some patches and pins from different thift stores to add to it. I do a lot of upcycling and I love getting inspiration from people I photograph who have found creative ways to add/make changes to items that they have purchased. There are just so many possibilities!
So, here's the story... Send us a photo of your best upcycled creation to firstname.lastname@example.org by 5pm on Oct 15th. The Seattle Times and I will review the photos and choose a winner for two different age groups (teen and adult) and winners will be notified by Oct 23rd.
I really can't wait to see what you all come up with!!
