Curio Confections

We recently discovered the most incredible shop in the north end of the University District called Curio Confections. This house turned restaurant/coffee shop/wine bar between 55th and 56th not only makes their own candies on site but also creates a wide array of both sweet and savory pies and baked goods.

The interior of Curio is very whimsical with lots of little nooks and crannies filled with treats

We got a piece of savory vegetable beer pot pie. It was filled with home cooked comfort flavor and the crust was perfect. I love that on their website the owner encourages patrons to suggest new ingredients/flavor ideas for them to try out in their various pies and candies. So if they are missing anything you would like to see, and you point it out to them, you might just see it on your next visit.

My favorite purchase of the visit... Curio's creatively flavored marshmallows will make you vow to never again pick up a bag of chemical filled jet puffs from the grocery store. We used these to make a batch of Rice Crispy Treats later in the evening and I believe the earth stood still for a brief moment when I tasted them for the first time.

We also got a snickerdoodle cookie that was so fresh that it fell apart in the center when I picked it up... so good. There were many many other things that didn't get tried and will require another visit soon.
